What I have read in articles is that respirators should most likely be run on a lower setting with Covid 19 patients because their lungs have not stopped working all the way, they have an oxygen problem, their lungs have not given out, just tired. If the respirators are put at a usual higher setting for lungs that have given out completely, it could cause long term lung damage because they have some function in the lungs.
