Hurricane Harvey likely to be 'catastrophic,' 'life-threatening,' forecasters warn
If you have been warned to evacuate, please evacuate, it is law now that
Gov. rescue must take your pets as well, so there is no need to try and
ride it out, get a carrier for your pet and remind them of the law.
After Hurricane Katrina, there was a new law in pet rights, they must
take your pet on board at rescue hurricane missions. Here is a quote
from that said law: "The law demands that state and local governments
factor pets into emergency evacuation plans, and authorize the use of
funds for rescue workers to procure, construct, or renovate emergency
shelter facilities and materials that will temporarily accommodate
people with pets and service animals." This is part of the Pet
Evacuation Transportation Standards (PETS) Act of 2006. https://www.mnn.com/…/why-hurricane-katrina-was-shift-pets-…
