Richard Shaw

It was exactly 3 years ago today that Richard Shaw, a well known Christian filmmaker and our ATN team member and friend moved on to wonderful Heaven.  I have felt led by the Spirit to give a statement about the positive side of his character and ministry. Rick, as many of his friends called him behind the scenes, was a very good filmmaker, he also was a very popular conference speaker, so much so, at times people had to stand outside in the halls of the conference room just to get a chance to hear him speak. He was very knowledgeable concerning Israel and had done a film with some of the top Rabbi's. He was considered one of the bright intelligent minds of today. People wanted to hear his view. Rick had helped build many of the Christian TV sets you would view your favorite show on and the heads of these shows stayed in close connection with him even years later and would continue to have him on as a guest.

On his character, if Rick was your friend, "he was your friend", period. He acted as a true friend. He was faithful and text and called often, many from different media ministries who worked with him will attest to this. Let me explain why that is so important. Many who are heads of media ministry have a strong light that is being beamed forth by the Spirit, many who profess Christianity, like dim lights, not bright ones (sad). So many people who call themselves friends to these people, run away from the light in long term. They may be able to be around the light a few weeks or months, but in long term, they are running away from the light, they have no desire to be consistent in friendship, they just want to be acquaintances and just touch base once in a blue moon. I really stood in awe of his faithfulness in friendship to all of us. Besides being committed in communication, he would never want to talk or listen to anyone who had bad mouthed the ministry he was working for. I would hear him say, "no, I will not talk to them, they bad mouthed my friend".

We were so blessed to have had Rick onboard with us here at ATN the last two years of his life and we all look forward to seeing him again in Heaven! I feel his character was a teaching for good, so, shared.
